Members only events

10th May WORC 3rd Members Dressage – Elmwood, nr Bampton
10th May WORC 2nd Members Show Jumping – Elmwood, nr Bampton
1st June Walk/Trot Dressage - Hill Farm, Witney
6th June HEROS (Homing Ex-Racehorses) Stables/Yard Tour – Fawley, nr Wantage

WALK/TROT DRESSAGE
The next competition is on Sunday 1st June at Hill Farm, using WORC tests 3 and 4. As we only have a few members who take part in these competitions, we can no longer justify printing the tests and schedules for the entire club and enclosing with the newsletter. Therefore, tests plus an entry form can be requested direct from Pam Bartrip.

MEMBERS’ SHOW JUMPING
The second date for the members-only SJ is Saturday 10th May, at Elmwood (left-hand side of Clanfield Road just out of Bampton). The ‘wibbly-wobbly warm-up’ (£5/round) is aimed at newcomers to jumping and absolute novices to have a trot round over some poles and very low cross poles (2’ 0” approx) and to get rid of the spooks and build a bit of confidence, without the pressure of being in a proper class.
Classes as follow:
9.30 am Wibbly-wobbly’ Absolute Novice warm-up session
10.30 am Class 1: - 2’3” - Combinations not to have been placed in any SJ event including RC
To follow on Class 2: - 2’6” -No restrictions
To follow on Class 3: - 2’9” - No restrictions
ALL ENTRIES ON THE DAY - COST WILL BE £5.00 PER ROUND. Please wear jackets or WORC sweatshirts if competing.

MEMBERS’ DRESSAGE SERIES
To coincide with the second of the Members’ Show Jumping, the third Members’ Dressage is also at Elmwood on 10th May. All tests will therefore be on grass, as will act as an excellent trial run for any of our Dressage team competitors. The schedule is attached to the April newsletter – PLEASE NOTE that Dawn Humphries has kindly offered to take entries in place of Diane.

EXCLUSIVE ‘HEROS’ STABLES & YARD TOUR
Some of you may have already heard about ‘HEROS’ Re-Homing of Ex-Racehorses at Fawley near Wantage, but if you want to find out more their website is www.heroscharity.org.
I have been in contact with Grace Muir who will give us a guided tour on Friday 6th June including; mares & foals, assessing horses for re-homing and then watching the rehabilitation work that is done. Obviously anyone who has a ex-racehorse will find it extremely useful to go along and pick the brains of an expert, but if you are considering whether to actually take on an ex-racehorse then this could be an excellent starting point. Tickets are £10 per person; all money goes towards the charity, names and money to me.
